# Clean Names

Fix messy contact and company names on a list in one click. Free.

Names that come from LinkedIn, a website or a bought list arrive messy, and the messy version is what goes into the first line of your email:

* `Dr. Linda Silbert` → "Hi Dr.,"
* `Emily Kapit, Ms, Mrw, Acrw, Cprw`
* `barbara mclean`
* `Causal Inc All Rights Reserved`
* `Easescreen - Digital Signage Solution`

Clean Names fixes all of that on a whole list in one click, and it is **free**. There is no AI and no lookup, so there is nothing to pay for.

## How to run it

1. Open your list.
2. Click **Add enrichment**.
3. Pick **Clean contact names** (under Contacts) or **Clean company names** (under Companies).
4. Confirm. It runs in the background — the column updates as it goes.

You can run both on the same list.

## It replaces the name, it does not add a column

This is the part worth knowing. Clean Names writes over the existing Name and Company fields rather than adding new ones.

That is on purpose. Smartlead, Aimfox, HubSpot and every other integration read the existing fields, so a tidy name in a new column would never actually reach your campaign.

**Your original is not lost.** It is kept behind the scenes, and re-running reads from it — so if we improve the rules later, a second run picks up the improvement rather than cleaning an already-cleaned name.

## It will not guess

A name it cannot make sense of is left exactly as it was. Nothing is ever emptied, because a blank first name does not stop a send — it sends "Hi ,".

It also leaves correct names alone. `Cooper Companies` keeps its plural, `Dean Foster` does not become `DeAn Foster`, and a company called `Corp` stays `Corp`.

Rows with no LinkedIn profile are skipped. Two people share a name far more often than they share a profile, and renaming the wrong person is worse than skipping them.
