# TAM

Map your whole market and work through it one search at a time.

TAM (total addressable market) helps you reach everyone in a market without pulling the same people twice. You describe the market in plain English. Parvenu turns it into an audience, splits it into small searches called slices, and tracks which slices you have already covered.

## Create an Audience

1. Navigate to [TAM](https://app.parvenu.io/app/tam).
2. On the **Describe** step, write the market you want to reach. Say who they are, the company size, the industry and where they are.
   * Example: *US companies, 10 to 5,000 employees, in construction. I want to reach owners and directors of development at roofing businesses in California and Texas.*
3. Click **Draft the audience**.

## Review the Audience

Nothing is saved yet. Check each field and fix anything that looks wrong.

| Field            | What it means                                                                                                                    |
| ---------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Audience name | The name you will see in your audiences list. |
| Titles | The job titles to find. Word order does not matter, so "Director of Development" and "Development Director" count as one search. |
| Keywords | How the company describes itself. This is the main way the audience is defined. |
| Industries | A second way to define the companies. Industries and keywords are never mixed in the same search. |
| Exclude keywords | Companies that describe themselves with these words are left out. |
| Company size | Parvenu's company size ranges. Pick only from the list. |
| States | Leave empty to search the whole country. |
| Excluded domains | Companies to leave out, such as current customers. |

Then choose how Parvenu should search:

* **Pulling mode**
  * **National:** one search per title. Best for large markets.
  * **Matrix:** one search for every title, company size and state. Best for small, niche markets.
* **Strategy**
  * **Contact first:** search for people directly.
  * **Company first:** find the companies first, then the people at them.
* **Email quality:** keep only valid emails, or valid and catch-all emails.

Click **Save and build the plan**. Parvenu splits the audience into slices.

## Work Through the Slices

1. Open your audience from the **Audiences** step.
2. Click **Get next slice**. Parvenu shows the search filters for the next slice that has not been covered yet.
3. Run that search and add the results to a list.
4. Enter what came back: leads returned, net new leads, and a sample score if you checked a sample. At least one number is needed. Click **Save results**.
5. Repeat until the plan is done.

Other buttons:

* **Show current:** see the slice you are on.
* **Previous:** step back one slice.
* **Top up plan:** add new slices without repeating ones you have already covered.

The progress bar shows how many slices are left, planned, scaling and exhausted. The **Plan rows** table shows every slice with its title, company size, location, status, leads found and net new leads.

{% hint style="info" %}
If a National audience stops finding enough new leads, Parvenu switches it to Matrix mode and builds the finer grid of slices for you.
{% endhint %}

## Run Slices Automatically with Flows

You can let a Flow pull slices for you with the **Get Next TAM Slice** step. It takes the next unused slice of your audience each time the Flow runs.
