# Filter

Remove less relevant contacts and companies to build the perfect list.

## Filter by Segments

Segments are reusable filters that can easily be applied to multiple lists, or automatically within the rules engine.

### Create a Segment

1. Navigate to the [Filters](https://app.parvenu.io/app/rules-engine?tab=filters) page<br>

2. Under the Create Segment section, click "Create"
3. Fill out the filtering information using a comma space to separate values<br>

| Field                  | Definition                                                        | Example                                                                                   | Notes                            |
| ---------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------- |
| **Segment Name**       | A name for your set of filters                                    | CEO                                                                                       | Can be any value                 |
| **Title Contains**     | The prospect's title must contain **at least one** of these words | chief executive officer, ceo, c.e.o., founder, president                                  | Separate values with comma space |
| **Title Not Contains** | The prospect's title **cannot contain any** of these words        | assistant, vice                                                                           | Separate values with comma space |
| **Similar Titles**     | If this box is checked, we will try to get related titles         | Writing "Chief Executive Officer" will include prospects who have the title "CEO" as well | Beta feature                     |

### Apply a Filter Segment to a List

Once you've created a Segment, you can apply that filter to your List in just a couple of clicks.

1. Navigate to the [Lists](https://app.parvenu.io/app/lists) page.
2. View the table of the List you want to filter.
3. Select the Segment you want to apply from the "Filter by Segment" dropdown.<br>

### Apply a Filter Segment in the Rules Engine

You can have your Segment Filters apply to automations run by the Rule Engine.

## Filter a Specific List

You can create advanced filters for specific lists.

1. Navigate to the [Lists](https://app.parvenu.io/app/lists) page
2. Select the List you want to filter
3. Select "Filter" from the Table<br>

## Filter a Specific List by Verification Status

Emails in Parvenu are automatically verified. You can [change the view](https://support.parvenu.io/features/clean/email-verification#views) to filter based on the `Verification Status`.
